<div itemprop="description">Hazel Vernita (Greene) Jones – age 93 of Dartmouth. Passed away peacefully on November 9, 2016 with her family by her side. <br>Hazel was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, a daughter of the late Frederick E. Greene and Elizabeth (Weston) Greene.<br>Hazel worked as a Personnel Manager for Zellers in Saint John, New Brunswick where she met her husband Allen. In the early 1950s they moved to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She stayed at home to raise her family and returned to work as a Sales Coordinator for Simmons until her retirement. <br>Hazel had a lifelong commitment to her church and her faith. She taught Sunday School and was involved in various church committees. She was a Cub leader, a parent volunteer with the Dartmouth Crusaders, a charter member of the Mayflower Quilters, and a volunteer with the Dartmouth Head Start Program. <br>Hazel enjoyed gardening, bowling, baking, sewing, quilting, knitting, and reading. She loved her dogs and her Blue Jays. She was a keen bridge player and delighted in playing card games with family and friends. She loved to learn and continued to take courses throughout her life.<br>Hazel had a keen sense of humour and loved to laugh. Hazel’s greatest pride and joy in life was her family, to whom she gave unconditional love and support.<br>She was predeceased by her devoted husband Allen Caverhill Jones.<br>She will be greatly missed by her children, Beth Archibald, Keltie (Louise) Jones, Allison (Glen) Condran, Susan (Bruce) Tippett; her grandchildren, Taryl (Daniel), Chelsey (Tristan), Grayson, Erin, Kara, Christine, and Sean; her great-grandchildren, Ethan and Owen; her sister Betty, her brother-in-law Laurie, and her many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter Courtney; son-in-law, Laurie Archibald; her brothers Bert, Carl, Norm, John, Bob and her sister Margaret Clifton.<br>The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the exceptional care and respect given by the staff at Parkland at the Lakes (Jamieson Hall) and thank the staff at the Dartmouth General for their excellent patient care in these last few days.<br>A memorial service will be held at St. Alban’s Anglican Church, 343 Pleasant Street, Dartmouth on Saturday, November 12th at 11:30 am with a reception to follow. Private family interment at a later date in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Alban’s Church or a charity of your choice.
