<div itemprop="description">Caldwell, Glen Russell <br /> <br />86, of Dartmouth, passed away after a lengthy illness Thurs, May 16, 2013 at The Veterans Memorial Building in Halifax. Born in Chilliwack, British Columbia he was the youngest son of eight children of Andrew and Elizabeth Caldwell. Glen joined the Royal Canadian Navy upon graduation from High School and after training in England he was transferred to Shearwater where he was very proud to serve his country. He spent 25 years in Shearwater and raised his family in Dartmouth. After retiring from the Navy he joined the staff of The Bedford Institute of Oceanography where he worked for 15 years before retiring. His work travels took him around the world but the East coast became home for this West coast boy. He met the love of his life, Cora, at The Olympic Gardens Dance Hall and they were happily married for 64 years while raising their 5 children. He enjoyed travelling with Cora in his retirement years and attending CNAG Reunions from one coast to the other to meet up with many great friends. Surviving are his wife Cora; children, Patricia (Eric) Gallant, Mississauga; Faye (Bruce) Richard, Dartmouth; Rick Caldwell, Dartmouth; and Susan (Donnie) Ehler, Dartmouth as well as special daughter Carol Charron, California. Grandchildren Laura, Shelly, Cheryl, Derek, Mark, Randy, Adam and Luke and great grandchildren Julie, Owen, Brady and one day old Abigail. Also numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter Dale Dear, his parents and several siblings. Special thanks to Dr Brad Izzard for his dedicated attentions and to the staff of the TCU at the Dartmouth General and 5W at the Veterans Memorial Building. Visitation will take place Tues, May 21, 2013 from 7:00-9:00 PM at St Vincent De Paul Church, Forest Hills Parkway, Cole Harbour. Funeral will take place on Wed, May 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St Vincent De Paul Church with a reception to follow. Internment will take place in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or The Veterans Memory Project.
