<div itemprop="description">Yates, George &ldquo;Fred&rdquo; &ndash; age 72 of Dartmouth passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 4, 2016 in the Victoria General, QE II. Born in Charlottetown, he was a son of the late William and Dorothy (Stewart) Yates. Fred moved to Dartmouth in 1965 and worked at Dartmouth Fuels as a Technician and Service Manager, eventually retiring at age 55 as Service Manager for Ultramar Home Energy. Even after retirement Fred continued working part time until the age of 70. Fred loved spending time at the cottage, polishing his Dodges, boating, eating lobster, working in the garden, enjoying a cold beer or two and playing with Demon. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and loved arguing about the games with his grandchildren who are avid Montreal Canadiens fans. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. Fred is survived by his wife of 45 years Linda (Wilson); son, William &ldquo;Bill&rdquo;, Dartmouth; Daughter, Melinda Howe (Scott), Enfield; grandchildren, Connor and Megan; sisters, Mary Lou Gallant (Bill MacDonald), PEI, Ann Crook, Dartmouth; brothers, Barry (Doreen), PEI, and Arnold (Marie), PEI and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by, brothers, Harry and Wayne and sister, Marie. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 7-9pm Monday, February 8 with a memorial service 2pm Tuesday, February 9 followed by a reception all in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. Interment to take place at a later date in Malagash.
