Dorothy “Glenys” (Warren) Livingstone age 89, of Halifax passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 13th at the Halifax Infirmary.

Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late John and Sophie Warren. Despite spending the majority of her life in Halifax, the Bay was forever home; you can take the girl out of Cape Breton but you can’t take Cape Breton out of the girl!

She was passionate about her chosen political party, the Progressive Conservatives, working as campaign manager during elections and attending conventions in Ottawa for many years. She was the administrative assistant in two constituency offices as well as for Judge Robert McCleave during the Uranium Inquiry, making lifelong friends along the way.

As much as she enjoyed politics, her family and friends were her priority. She was happiest with a houseful; there was always room for one more at the table. A “night owl”, she was usually up when her girls arrived home with friends – there were always homemade treats to share. Mom loved a good joke and loved a party, and, before her health declined, loved to dance. She and Dad were fortunate to have enjoyed many wonderful trips over the years, with Fiji being her personal favorite.
She had many friends, both young and old, who brought her great joy.

Glenys is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Ken) Opper, Pam (Stephen Sullivan); adored grandchildren, Ryan Tisdall (Coco Borgemeister), Michaela Opper (Bryan Pluck), Joel Sullivan (Heather-Jean Matheson), Adrienne Sullivan; cherished great-granddaughters, Kamden, Bennett, and Charlie, as well as Jason and Damien Evans whom she loved as her own. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Glenys was predeceased by her husband Roy, and each of her siblings.

Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday November 17 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street Dartmouth, Rev. James Haughn officiating. Reception to follow.
Private interment in Fairview Lawn Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Society.

A special thank you to the caring staff of 6.2, the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. The family would like to thank Jo for being her buddy and to Cliff for always making her laugh.

Online condolences may be made by visiting the Dartmouth Chapel at www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com
