<div itemprop="description">William James Gillis “Billy” -age 67, of Waverley. <br> <br>It is with great sadness we announce that Billy passed away on February 26, 2017 at home, with his family at his side, after a three year battle with cancer. <br> <br>Born in Summerside, PEI, he was a son of Lottie (Walwork) and the late Ralph Gillis of Birch Hill, PEI. <br> <br>He came to Nova Scotia in 1967 and worked at Milligan Brothers, Farmer's Dairy, and Fitz's Construction where he began a lifelong career as an Ironworker and a proud member of Local 752. He worked at Maritime Steel, Cherubini, Marid, RKO and Strescon for 45 years. He was a jack of all trades and willing to lend a hand to his family and friends whenever needed. He will be missed. <br> <br>Billy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Geraldine (Milligan); daughter Karen (Rick Starck); son Kevin; grandchildren Jack Gillis, Kacie and Rylan Starck; siblings Teresa (Roger) Debaie, Pat (Keith) Winchester, Anne (Brian) Knowlton, David, June (Glen) Ellis and Gail Gillis; sisters in law Sandra Beamish (Wayne Hatch), Joyce Hilchie, and Shirley (Bruce) Howard; brothers in law, Brian (Julie) Milligan, Elmer (Phil Preeper) Milligan, Robert (Noelle) Milligan; and 33 nieces and nephews. <br> <br>In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his brother Tom and sister in law Carol; father and mother-in-law Gerald and Virginia Milligan, and brother-in-law Norb Beamish. <br> <br>Cremation has taken place. Visitation and reception will be held on Thursday, March 2nd from 3:00 to 9:00pm in St. John's United Church, 3360 Hwy 2, Fall River The funeral service will take place on Friday, March 3rd at 11:00am, also in St. John’s United Church, Rev.
