<div itemprop="description">Joyce, Sherman Russell, age 84, of Dartmouth. <br> <br>With great sadness, the family of Sherman Russell Joyce shares the news of his passing on November 4, 2016 in Saint Vincent’s Nursing Home. Sherman, the eldest son of the late Wilbert and Gertrude (Stokes) Joyce was born on January 4, 1932 in Sackville, NB. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years Helen Mae Joyce (Murphy) and brother Earl Joyce in infancy. <br> <br>Sherman will be greatly missed by sons, George (Carol Ann), Dartmouth, Alan (Leanne Penney), Fall River, and Brian (Brenda), Halifax; grandchildren, Melissa (John) Ballard, Aidan and Triniti Jean-Joyce, Laura and Julia Jollimore, Katherine Joyce; great grandson Beau Ballard. <br> <br> Sherman is also survived by his brothers, Lawrence (Patti) Joyce, Drumbo, ON and Wayne (Noella) Joyce, Lantz; half-sister Rosie Grunwell, Bobcaygeon, ON and several nephews. <br> <br>At a young age Sherman's family moved to Debert, and then to Eastern Passage, until his adult life. In his late teens, he worked with Imperial Oil on the tankers and then worked at Ferry Aviation for 18 years painting aircraft. When Ferry Aviation closed in 1969 he went to work for G.B. Murphy Jewellers in the jewellery repair department. In the late 1970's Sherman worked at Shearwater as a spray painter and retired in 1988. <br> <br>Sherman was a great sportsman and thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing. In retirement Sherman and Helen travelled extensively and especially enjoyed their time in Florida. Sherman and Helen were constantly together and never left each other's side for very long. Theirs was a true love story. <br> <br>The celebration of Sherman's life will be held at Grace United Church 70 King St., Dartmouth, on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 11:00 am, Reverend Stephen Fram officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. <br> <br>Sherman's family would like to express our sincere thanks to the exceptional staff at Saint Vincent’s Nursing Home for the love, care and compassion they have shown Sherman over the past 4 years.
