<div itemprop="description">It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Rita on September 26, 2015 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Born June 24, 1922 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, she was the daughter of Lehman Mulder and Anna Nagtegaal. Rita survived the depression and World War II. On July 10, 1946 she married Coenraad Versnel. Together, they immigrated to Canada through Pier 21 after serving with the World Church Service in Germany assisting in placing refugees after World War II. They settled in Oakville, Ontario and Rita worked for 24 years as a ward clerk at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital &ndash; an experience she reflected on with joy during her later years. Rita is survived by three daughters &ndash; Elizabeth (Doug Backer) in Owen Sound, Ontario; Joan (Robert Wigle), Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; and Ingrid (Huss Mourad), Toronto, Ontario as well as two grand-daughters &ndash; Jacqueline and Anneke Wigle. She is also survived by family in the Netherlands. Rita was predeceased by her husband Coenraad and she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A memorial service is planned for 10:00am Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street in Dartmouth. Special thanks to the caring staff at Jamieson Hall, Parkland-at-the-Lakes; Northwood Home Care; and staff on 3West Dartmouth General Hospital.
