<div itemprop="description">Age 83 of Lake Loon, passed away on Wednesday, August 24 2016 in the Dartmouth General Hospital. <br>Born in Lake Loon, he was the son of the late Deaconess Kathleen (Beals) Riley and Deacon Howard Riley. <br>Percy was a long-time member of the Cherry Brook United Baptist Church. He served many roles and was a member of various groups and committees within the church, including pre lodge mason, Men’s Brotherhood Choir, Choir Director, trustee, church executive, former Sunday school teacher, anniversary and historical committee, the Gospel Fellowship Choir, the Senior Choir, and the church renovation and cemetery committee. <br>Percy was talented in singing and playing the guitar. This led him to be nicknamed “Poor Man Charlie Pride”. His desire for music began at an early age and he passed on that same passion to his family. He played with a few gospel groups; Percy Riley and Friends, Nova Gospel Ensemble, Christmas Daddies Show, and the Colored Home Broadcast. <br>Percy had many other talents beyond the church. He was an excellent carpenter, a master of his trade, working for DND at the shipyard in both the dock and construction areas. He also volunteered with cadets, He had a very diverse list of hobbies and talents and was often seen selling wreaths at the farmers market, gardening, hunting, and on occasion, selling fish (known to some as “the fishman”). He also accumulated many awards as a “professional” Curler and bowler. <br>Percy is survived by his daughters, Sharon, Dawn (Ken), Sandra; sons, Reid “Alan”; Percy “Junior”; Byron (Lisa); Mark (Jennifer); Anthony (Denise); Terrance (Sharlene); sisters, Joan, Gloria (Wayne); brothers, Clarence (Irma), Howard (Evelyn), sister-in law, Laura; 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 1 Godchild. <br>He was predeceased by his wife Leota Riley in 2015; former wife, Olive Langford; daughters Tracey Riley and Veronica Riley-Hagans; sisters, Rosella Sparks and Daisy Bundy; brother, Melvin Riley. <br>Visitation will be held from 7-9pm on Tuesday, August 30 2016 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. The funeral service will take place at Cherry Brook Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 31 2016 at 1:00 pm, Rev. Wayne Desmond officiating. Burial in Cherry Brook Church Cemetery. Repast to follow in the church hall. <br> In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to the Cherry Brook United Baptist Church. <br></div>
