OAKEY, Golda Mae – age 97, Dartmouth, passed away August 12, 2014 at Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Lower East Chezzetcook April 13, 1917 she was the daughter of the late John Twining and Lillian (Owen) Misener. She was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by her husband Ignatius Oakey, Brothers Eldridge, Guy, Edgar, Clyde, Calvin and Bernie. Sisters Pearl Standing, Sylvia Falco, Myrtle Wilhelm, and Evelyn Parrell. She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and close friend Diane Cole. She was a member of the Dartmouth Seniors Club and the Dartmouth Seniors Service Centre. She volunteered her time by knitting mittens and doing crafts which raised money for the Christmas Daddies Telethon and the IWK Children’s Hospital for many years. Visitation will be held from 7-9 pm Friday August 15, 2014 at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St, Dartmouth. A funeral service will take place Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10 am in Atlantic Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Stephen Croft officiating. Burial to take place after the Memorial Service at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Church of our Savior.
