<div itemprop="description">Farmer, Gary Paul passed away peacefully on August 1st, 2016 at the QEII Halifax Infirmary surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 2, 1954 he was a son of the late Alex James and Isabelle (nee: Farmer) Johnson and raised by his special Aunt Louise Tynes. Gary enjoyed attending New Beginnings Church in Cherry Brook. An avid Basketball player and coach he also enjoyed spending time on the golf course. For years he was the director at the Community YMCA where he spent time coaching Basketball and helping the youth, and he touched many lives over the years. He enjoyed playing trumpet and keyboard for various bands and the church. His final career seen him working for the Department of Corrections in Nova Scotia. <br>Besides his loving wife Maxine (Nee: Clayton) Gary is survived by sons; Graham (Tammi), Gerard; grandchildren, Jasmine, Heaven, Arionne; brothers, Lou Dixon (Jean), Adrian Farmer; sisters, Mildred Farmer Bright, Janice Farmer, Evette Johnson; uncle, Melvin Farmer, many nieces and nephews and godchildren, Quincy Smith, Nicole Lucas. <br>Besides his parents he was predeceased by stepfather David Johnson; sisters, Betty James, Valerie Carvery, Tanya Johnson. <br>A public visitation will take place on Thursday August 4th, 2016 from 7-9 pm at the Atlantic Funeral Dartmouth 771 Main Street. A Celebration of life will take place on Monday August 8th, 2016 at 11 am at New Beginnings Church 26 Cherry Brook Rd. with Reverend Ogueri Ohanaka officiating. <br>The family would like to give a special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses on Unit 8.2 of the QEII and a special thank you to Verena Rizg, Dr. Keating, and Janet Munroe- Last, and friends and neighbours on Almora Court . Donations in Gary’s memory can be made to the Community YMCA on Gottingen Street in Halifax.</div>
