<div itemprop="description">WALSH, Frederick Murray “Fred” “Tinker", age 90 passed away February 18, 2017 in Sagewood Continuing Care in Lower Sackville. Born in Dartmouth, he was a son of the late Joseph and Eva (Shrum) Walsh. <br> <br>Fred started work at age 14 with the Rope Works in Dartmouth and moved on to the Dartmouth Shipyards, Osborne Plumbing and Heating, W.A. Chaddock & Co. Ltd. and retired from Dalhousie University (Oceanography Department) at age 66. Fred was a member of Local 56 Pipefitters and Plumbers Union and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Fred enjoyed music, especially bag pipes and marching bands, swimming and just working around the garage, he always had a project. Fred’s humour and smile will be sadly missed. <br> <br>Fred is survived by sons Ken (Donna), Ron (Gena), both of Dartmouth; daughter Irene (Gary) Middleton of Enfield; grandchildren Devonna (Peter), Lesley (Trevor), Evan, and Kelsey, all of Dartmouth, David of Bridgewater, Kayla, Derrick (Kaladon) and Tim (Erin), all of Alberta; great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Kavin of Dartmouth, Kallyn, Bridgewater, Kayla, Grace, Hailey, Simon, Gareth, and Davis, of Alberta. He is also survived by his brother Raymond (Ruby) and many nieces and nephews. <br> <br>He was predeceased by his wife Eileen (Aucoin); brothers Wilbert, Roy, Arthur, Howard and sisters Irene, Eva and Dorothy. <br> <br>Visitation will be held from 2-4pm and 7-9 pm on Wednesday February 22, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. Funeral service will take place at 10:30am on Thursday February 23 in the funeral home chapel with a reception to follow.
