<div itemprop="description">Baltas (Giannakaris), Evangelia 74, died on December 29, 2016, surrounded by her family and friends, in the Dartmouth General Hospital. <br>Born in Antia, Evia, Karystos, Greece, she was a daughter of the late Petros and Kyriakoula Giannakaris.<br>She moved to Halifax in 1973 after marrying the love of her life, Costantinos “Costas” Baltas. She was a proud and devoted member of St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church and an active member of the St. Catherine’s Philoptochos Ladies Society. She enjoyed feeding anyone who came in her door and found the most joy in time spent with her grandchildren.<br>Evangelia is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Costas; daughters Chrisoula Baltas (David Gill), Irene Baltas (Stephen Doucet) and her niece Filio Volanaki (Giannakaris). She will be deeply missed by her loving grandchildren, Ioanna Baltas-Cannings, Nicholas Baltas and Maximus Doucet. She was loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. <br>She was predeceased by her brother Dimitrios Giannkaris and her niece Koula Zegginis (Giannakaris).<br>Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Tuesday January 3rd, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. The funeral service will take place at 1pm on Wednesday January 4th in St. George’s Orthodox Church, 38 Purcells Cove Rd, Halifax, Fr. Panagiotis Maropoulos and Fr. Theodore Efthimiadis presiding. Burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens with a reception to follow in The Atlantic Funeral Home Reception Lounge. <br>Flowers are welcome.
