<div itemprop="description">Rushton, Douglas Ernest – age 65 years of Musquodoboit Harbour passed away on March 1, 2017 at the Halifax Infirmary. <br> <br>Born in Halifax on August 10, 1951; he was the son of the late Gordon and Eileen Rushton. <br> <br>Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Lynn-Marie Nugent; daughter Michelle Rushton (Bernat Serrahima) of Ibiza, Spain; sisters Debrah Crockatt of Middleton, Gail Golar (Owen) of Ontario, Susan Pickrem of Halifax; Kim Peach (Tom) of Alberta; brother Neil (Linda) of Dartmouth; also by five grandchildren. <br> <br>Predeceased by his son Douglas James “D.J” Rushton and brother in law Norm Pickrem. <br> <br>In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at the Atlantic Funeral Homes, Dartmouth Chapel on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2pm. <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doug made to Bide-A-While animal shelter or Hope for Wildlife would be appreciated. <br> <br>Doug fought a valiant battle against cancer for over a year. A strong brave man now riding his beloved Harley in the sky. <br> <br>Special thanks to Dr. Matthew Rigby, Karen and Jen of the Head and Neck Oncology Clinic at the QE11 and Mitch and the staff at the Palliative Care Clinic in Dartmouth, also the Pharmacy Staff at Lawton's in Musquodoboit Harbour. Words can't express how much the concern and care of friends and family helped Doug through his difficult journey particularly that of Debbie Otto, Cheryl Dickie and Alex Julien.
