
Watson (nee Colley), Mary Magdalene
Mary Magdalene (nee Colley) Watson, age 78, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born May 22, 1933 in East Preston, daughter of the late James and Harriet (nee Diggs) Colley. Mary dedicated her life to Christ 65 years ago and loved to serve Him. During her early Christian walk, she was involved with the Baptist Young People’s Union. She was an active member of the Victoria Road United Baptist Church serving as President of the Ladies Auxiliary, and member of the Senior Choir and Seniors Club, former Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent. For many years she worked in healthcare as a nurse at various long term care facilities and in a private duty capacity throughout Metro. She also worked at the Nova Scotia Home for Colored Children and with Lee Interiors. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her and remembered for her glowing smile, her willingness to welcome all into her home and the encouraging words she gave to young people in the whole community. She will be especially missed for her baking and her singing. Mary is survived by her daughters, Cassandra Colley-Wedlock and Crystal Watson both of Dartmouth; sons Patrick Colley, Truro NS and Corey (Kim) Watson, Cold Lake, AB. Grandchildren Maurice (Mac) Colley, Nicholas Colley, Patrice Clayton Colley, Raytesha Ferguson, Taylor Watson, Caleb Johnson Colley and Makai Watson, Chad, Christopher, and Cortrell Johnson; sisters, Janette Brooks, East Preston and Irene Barlow, Seattle, WA; brother, George Colley, East Preston; and best friend Dorothy Flint. Godchildren Carolyn Daise, Glenda Byard O’Neil, Angie Brooks and Nathaniel Colley, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Charles, daughter Leslie Anne and son Glendon; brothers Freeman, Thomas, James, Samuel, David, Albert and Simon; sisters Susan, Elsie, Elizabeth, Hattie, Sarah, and Charlotte. Visitation 2-4 & 7-9 pm Wednesday, March 28 at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street. Memorial service conducted at 7 pm by the Ladies Auxiliary of Victoria Road United Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be held Thursday March 29, 2012 at 1pm in First Baptist Church, 100 Ochterloney Street, Dartmouth, Rev. Cheryl Ann Beals officiating assisted by Rev. Sherrolyn Riley and Rev. Elias Mutale. Internment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens followed by a repast in Atlantic Funeral Home, Dartmouth.
