Chapman (nee Macdonald), Dorothy Vivian - 63 of Cole Harbour passed away suddenly on Friday, January 18th in the Dartmouth General Hospital. She will be lovingly mourned by her partner and soul mate of 34 years, Randy Chapman. A true animal lover, Vivian will be sorely missed by her darling Yorkie, Indy. A gifted psychic from a young age, Vivian will forever be remembered fondly by the local clairvoyant community and the multitudes she advised. Born in Halifax, Vivian attended Westmount, QEH and Halifax Vocational School. Following her retirement from the Finance Department of the Provincial Government, she did readings with her good friend, Donna at “Into the Mystic” in Cole Harbour. Vivian was a prolific painter in oil and acrylic mediums, loved folk music, crafting, studied the supernatural, history, art, literature and took pleasure in morning walks with her confidante Wanda. She shared her artistic ability with her niece, Lisa Vivian. She also relished her visits with Sarah at Sarah’s Spiritual treasures. Welcoming her in her passage are her loving parents, Alvin and Dorothy (Walsh) Macdonald, her brother, Alvin (Marj) and niece, Kim. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Mimi and Mack with whom she shared a very special relationship and father in law Bernie Chapman. Left to grieve are her sister Heather McGinnis (Doug) of Carrs Brook, brother Bruce (Liz) of Bridgewater, mother in law Sheila Chapman, Dartmouth, sister in laws Terry Pettipas (Dave) of Dartmouth, Susan Chapman of Dartmouth, Cathy Legare (Larry) of Dartmouth, Becky Hancock (Bruce) of Calgary, brother in laws Greg Chapman (Margie) of Centreville, Robert Chapman of Dartmouth, Michael Chapman (Theresa) of Bridgewater and many nieces and nephews. An infinitely generous soul, you could never leave Vivian’s home empty handed – she would pass on a meaningful piece of jewellery or a powerful amulet or crystal for good luck. Visitation will be from 7 – 9 PM Wednesday January 23 at the Atlantic Funeral Home in Dartmouth. Funeral service is at 10 AM Thursday January 24 at the Atlantic funeral home in Dartmouth and officiated by Reverend Pat Malin. The final resting place for Vivian’s ashes will be beside her parents in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery. There will be a reception at 347 Portland Hills Drive (common room) after the service. Memorial donations can be made to Bide Awhile Animal Shelter.
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
