<div itemprop="description">Kavanagh, Vincent Lawrence- Age 80 passed away April 2nd, 2014. <br />Vince was born April 30th, 1933 in Ottawa, ON. He was the son of the late Peter and Emily (Landry) Kavanagh. Vince was a member of St Clements Parish Roman Catholic Church. He retired as a Warrant Officer after 32 years of service with the Canadian Armed Forces 1st Battalion The Black Watch (RHR) of Canada and the 2nd Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment. Vince was a member of the Black Watch Association and the Canadian Association of Veterans of United Nations Peacekeeping and a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Centennial Branch 160 where he served on the executive for several years, and was past Sergeant of Arms. Vince was an avid gardener, sports fan and enjoyed playing Euchre and card games with his family and friends. He will be missed by the many who loved him. Vince is survived by his wife of 59 years Suzanne (Marshall) and his children Peter (Judi) Kavanagh of Dartmouth, Vicki (Wade) Rutledge of Sheet Harbour, Angela (Bill) Tait of Phoenix, AZ, Michael Kavanagh of Truro, Paul (Sharon) Kavanagh of Halifax, ten grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, five sisters in Ontario, numerous loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Sunday April 6th, 2014 at Atlantic Funeral Home, 747 Main Street, Dartmouth from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held at St Clements Parish, Gaston Rd, Dartmouth at 2:00PM Monday April 7th, 2014. An officiating service and reception will follow at 3:30 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion Centennial Branch 160, 703 Main St., Dartmouth. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory to the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation for the purchase of new furnishings for the 3 East family room. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Palliative Care team, the Doctors and staff of 3 East, Dartmouth General Hospital.
