<div itemprop="description">Dixon (Barnard), Vera Maxine, 85, of Dartmouth, passed away Sunday February 19, 2017, at Parkland at the Lakes. Born January 5, 1932 in Ecum Secum, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Laura (Bezanson) Barnard. Vera led an active life, with involvement in her early years as a member of Jill Tars, and for over 40 years was very involved with St. Luke’s Church in Westphal. Her passion for many years was her gardening. She was an avid bowler, knitter and loved to socialize when playing board and card games. She is survived by three sons: Steven Barnard of Bedford; Doug Dixon of Calgary; Gary Dixon of Dartmouth; sisters Melda Morash of Halifax and Dixie Dupon of Ontario; two brothers and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband David John Dixon 32 years ago; six sisters, one brother; two half-sisters; three half-brothers. <br>Cremation has taken place and a memorial service and internment will take place in June.
