<div itemprop="description"> <strong> &#8203; </strong> <strong> SCOTT, Thomas Joshua, C.D.2, Chief Warrant Officer, (Retired) &ndash; </strong> 74, of Dartmouth, peacefully passed away at Dartmouth General Hospital in the early hours of Saturday, September 10, 2011 with his loving family at his bedside.&nbsp; Born on May 24, 1937 in Isle-Aux-Morts, NL he was the son of the late Winter and Rose (Harvey) Scott.&nbsp; He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1955 as a finance clerk, and had attained the rank of CWO at the time of his retirement 38 years later. As a young airmen he was privileged to have been selected to serve in Canada&rsquo;s and the United Nation&rsquo;s first ever Peacekeeping Mission during the Suez Crisis in 1956.&nbsp; Along with his family, he enjoyed military life and all the pleasures of many postings from coast to coast in Canada and 3 tours of Europe, collecting many friends and memories along the way. Retiring in Dartmouth in 1993, Tom enjoyed his many hours of daily swimming at Cole Harbour Place, his crosswords and newspaper puzzles, his garden, his grandchildren, and his wife of 53 years Gertie always by his side.&nbsp; A big sports fan, he never gave up hope on the Toronto Maple Leafs, and locally loved to watch his grandson&rsquo;s play football and soccer. He is survived by his wife Gertrude (King), daughter Rose Scott-Lincourt (David), son Tom (Holly) Scott, grandchildren: Rebecca, Jillian, Zachary Scott, and Noah Lincourt all of Dartmouth; sisters: Edith (Russell) Harvey, Port-Aux-Basques, NL.; and Suzanne Wells, Isle-Aux-Morts, NL.; half-brothers: William (Golda) Scott, Lindsay (Dorothy) Scott, Eric (Daphne) Scott, Isle-Aux-Morts, NL.; Gary (Wilma) Scott, Burnt Islands, NL.; Alfred Scott, St. Catherine&rsquo;s, ON.; half-sister; Anabelle (Calvin) Warren, Doyles, NL.; step-brothers: Austin (Lucy) Billard, John (Ada) Billard and step-sister; Elizabeth Francis, all of Isle-Aux-Morts, NL.&nbsp; He is also survived by his family by marriage who he cared for deeply; brothers-in-law:&nbsp; Roland (Sally) King, Dartmouth; Wilfred (Sandra) King, Claude (Ann) King, Halifax; Tom (Anne) King, Paradise, NL.; Gus (Sandra) King, Port-Aux-Basques, NL.; Leslie (Della) King, Burnt Islands, NL.; sisters-in-law:&nbsp; Vera McLean, Halifax; Daisy (Barry) Pope, Burnt Islands, NL., and many, many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. He was predeceased by his parents &amp; step-mother Leah Scott; his cherished Granny; Mary Scott (who raised him); his parents-in-law; Tom and Pearl King, a son, Lawrence Patrick and a daughter in infancy; his sister Belinda Organ; and brother William (Billy) Scott. The family wishes to send our sincerest appreciation to Dr. Lymburner, Dr. Kohler, and Dr. Rubens for their kindness, collaboration, caring and true compassion during Tom&rsquo;s end of life care and in honouring his wishes.&nbsp; To the nurses and staff of Dartmouth General&rsquo;s 4-West; and on 3-West where he died, we are forever grateful for your constant care and listening; and to Heather Baker (Recreation Therapist) and her beautiful team of Therapeutic Assistants who were always by his side, your care plans helped keep him comfortable in his final days. Visitation will be: Wednesday, September 14 from 7-9pm, Thursday, September 15 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Atlantic Funeral Homes, 771 Main St. in Dartmouth.&nbsp; Funeral to be held on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 11 am at the Church of St. Andrew, 2 Circassion Drive, Dartmouth, NS., Rev. Katherine Bourbonniere officiating.
