<div itemprop="description">Gaetz (Horne), Shirley Marguerite, age 85, of Dartmouth, passed away on March 10, 2017 in the Victoria General Hospital, QEII. <br>Born in Enfield, she was a daughter of the late Catherine (Wilmot) and Ambrose Horne. <br>Shirley worked a full career with Maritime Tel and Tel, beginning as a long distance operator and working her way up to management. She retired after 25 years of service. She loved square dancing and was a member of Stardusters Square Dancers for many years. <br>Shirley is survived by her children, Cliff, Rick (Barb) and Krista (Eric) Griffin; grandchildren Christopher, Andrew (Meagan), Brian, Jennifer, Sarah, Jeffrey, Steven, Samantha, Matthew and Scott; great-grandchildren Logan and Lewis. <br>She is also survived by her sisters Lorraine Forbes, Nancy Ryan and Sharon Rochon; brothers Leo Horne and Eric Horne, and many nieces and nephews. <br>She was predeceased by her husband Perry; granddaughter Stephanie; and close companion Ross Conrod. She was also predeceased by sisters, Rita O’Neil, Greta MacDonnell, Alma White and Barbara Ryan; brothers Harold Horne, Ronald Horne, Ray Horne and Clyde Horne. <br>Cremation has taken place. The funeral service will take place at 10am on Thursday March 16th in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, with a reception to follow. Interment in St. James Anglican Church Cemetery, Seaforth. <br>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. <br>Special thanks to devoted caregiver and friend, Patricia and Kimone, We Care’s Joanne and Trish, Mitch and the Palliative Care Team on 7A, VG Hospital and to all of the wonderful friends and family who stepped up and made Shirley’s final days full of love and support through phone calls, visits and cooked meals. <br></div>
