<div itemprop="description">Starkey,Ronald &quot;Ron&quot; - 48 of Porters Lake passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy battle with ALS on September 17, 2013. Born in Arcihat, Cape Breton he was the son of Nancy and the late Ted Starkey. Ron graduated from the Nova Scotia Community College . He was employed at Irving Shipbuilding Inc. for the past 27 years, where he was a proud member of the shipbuilding community. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed living and raising his family in the peaceful serenity of Porters Lake. Ron will be forever known for his work ethic, his perpetual smile, his love of politics and his never-ending pride in his sons. Surviving are his loving wife, Debbie, sons; Ryan,Taylor and Brandon, brothers; Terry, Dennis and Dean, sister, Connie. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 20 from 7-9 pm in Atlantic Funeral Home 771 Main Street , Dartmouth where a celebration of life service will be on Saturday at 10am in the funeral home chapel. Reception to follow in the funeral home reception centre. Donations in memory of Ron may be made to the ALS Society of Nova Scotia.
