<div itemprop="description">Harper, Ronald Frederick “Ron”-age 78, of Dartmouth, passed away on August 7, 2016 in the Dartmouth General Hospital.<br>Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Dorothy (Crewe) and Johnny Harper.<br>Ron graduated from the Sydney Academy at the age of 16. He began his career with Mutual Life and then returned to school and graduated from Dalhousie University with his MBA in 1970. He was the Director of the Department of Regional Expansion in Halifax (DREE) from 1971-75, then the Director of the Department of Regional Industrial Expansion in Halifax until 1984. He then moved to Ottawa to take on the position of Director of Environmental Affairs Branch Indusrty Canada, a position which he held for 15 years. He returned to Halifax in 1999 to become the Vice President of the Atlantic Division for CPPI, Canadian Petroleum Products Institute, until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of the Dartmouth Curling Club , the Ottawa Curling Club and he enjoyed a game of golf. He also loved watching baseball, a sport he had played for many years when he was young.<br>Ron is survived by his wife Judith Jean Harper; daughters Terri Harper (Steven Vidito) and Leanne Harper-Wright (Bill Wright); son Paul Harper; Grandson, Brandon Harper; nieces, Cheryl (Harry) Ross and Patricia Woodhead (John Kuttan); nephews, David (Bec) Woodhead and Mark (Donna) Woodhead.<br>He was predeceased by his sister Joyce (George) Woodhead. <br>Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday August 17 at 1pm, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, Rev James Haughn officiating.
