<div itemprop="description">Robert F. Khan - Age 64, Dartmouth. It is with great regret the family of Robert Khan announces his unexpected passing on Tuesday, November 1, 2011. Bobby is survived by loving wife, Lorna (Ripley); daughter, Michelle (Jeff Anderson); son, Barrett (Kathryn Bates), grandchildren, Carter K. <br /> Anderson, Linden and Martha Khan. He is also survived by many loving cousins and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Hannah Khan; brothers, Ajmal and Akmal.&nbsp; Bob was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Bobby was born in Lahore, Pakistan and immigrated to Canada in 1961 at the age of 13 years. Margaret MacDonald, a Canadian Presbyterian Church missionary in India had adopted his mother Hannah as a child. Ms. MacDonald, originally from Lake Ainslie, helped sponsor the Khan family to come to Nova Scotia. The family stayed in Cape Breton for one year and moved to Guysborough and subsequently to Dartmouth. He attended Prince Andrew High School and university in Montreal. He worked at the Nova Scotia Hospital and after completing his accounting education, he worked at Pepsi Cola as general office manager then in 1974 he began his career with the Nova Scotia Provincial Tax Commission as an auditor, retiring after over 30 years of service. He became a Justice of the Peace for the province from 1980 to the present time. He was involved with youth sports, where he coached youth soccer with the Caledonia Soccer Association and as organizing Chairman helped create the Caledonia Cup Tournament in 1982, which became the largest youth soccer tournament in Atlantic Canada. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of youth hockey in the region as a team manager and was involved with organizing the SEDMHA International Hockey Tournament as a Public Relations Director and Transportation Coordinator for a number of years. He was a member of the Army Navy Air Force Club, and in 1998 was Chairman for the ANAF Veterans of Canada Dominion Convention held in Halifax. He enjoyed spending time at his oceanfront cottage in Linden. He also took great pleasure in travelling with his devoted Lorna as she undertook travelling nursing positions in California and North Carolina. As well he was always up for a road trip vacation anywhere in North America. He was a very social person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially with his three grandchildren. Donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Visitation on Thursday, November 3, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 4th at 2 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St, Dartmouth. Interment to take place at a later date. Family and friends are invited to a reception to follow the service, in the funeral home reception centre.</div>
