Sims, Rhoda Mae – 100, Bridgetown, formerly of Dartmouth. It is with heavy hearts that the family of Rhoda Sims announcers her passing at the Soldier’s Memorial Hospital in Middleton on Sunday September 29, 2013. Rhoda, who was affectionately called “Toady” by family and friends, was born in Liverpool on January 11, 1013, the daughter of the late Ernest and Sarah Graves. In excellent health until recently, she was a splendid example of what “growing old gracefully” really means. Her gentle kindness, mischievous sense of humour, resilience to great losses in her life and her enduring courage, endeared her to the many that had the privilege to know her. Predeceased by her husband, William Prior Sims and their only son Robert David (Gloria) Sims, Toady also lost a granddaughter, Brenda Jane McMullin earlier this year. Her own siblings Walter, Cecil, Verna, Pearl, Carrie and Ruth have also since passed away. Surviving are her granddaughters Carol (Harry) Harmes, Heather (Stephen) Lazar and Andrea (Warren) Atwood; her great grandchildren Nadine McMullin, Adam Harmes, Richard Harmes, Sarah Lazar and Emily Lazar; and her great- great grandchildren, Alexia Harmes, Gabriel Ivanov, Julian Ivanov, Julia Harmes, Avery Harmes, Lauren Harmes and Patrick Harmes. A visitation will take place 12 pm Friday October 4 followed by a celebration of life at 1pm both in Atlantic Funeral Home 771 Main Street Dartmouth. Burial to follow in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception at Atlantic Funeral Home Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that any donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.
