<div itemprop="description">Williams, Reuben Allen, Sr. (82) of East Preston, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2016 at home, surrounded by his wife, and family. Born on May 23, 1934, he was a son of the late Oscar Williams and Annie (Colley) Williams. Reuben was a member of Shiloh Community Church. He enjoyed fellowship under the direction of Rev. Ogueri Ohanaka and was appointed an Honourary Deacon in 2012. He was a former member of the East Preston United Baptist Church where he was baptized in 2002. He was a chartered member of the Preston and Area Lions Club. Reuben was an avid farmer, hunter and woodsman. He enjoyed travelling and sharing time with his family. Reuben started working at age 14 on a farm in Minesville for Mr. Danny Kellam. He also worked for Foundation Co. Ltd. (Mr. Tom MacDonald), Fred Smithers and Sons, and Nova Concrete. He was employed with Via Rail Canada (formerly CNR) for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He was a very hard working man and a dedicated husband, father and a wonderful grandfather. He always made sure his wife and family were well provided for. Reuben is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Freda (Glasgow) Williams, children, Paula (Dennis) Brown, Marshall (Roxanne), Reuben Jr., Ruby (Ross) Simmonds, Oscar (Tara Colley) and Bonnie (Ralston) Evans, 11 Grandchildren and 10 Great-grandchildren. Only surviving brother, James (Barbara) Williams, Winnipeg, and last surviving aunt, Mary V. Colley, East Preston; Godchildren, Steven Colley, Newt Glasgow, Etta Gough, Blaine Thomas and Dana Williams. He was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Annie (Colley) Williams, sisters, Marjorie Williams, Vera Thomas, Freda Sutherland and brother, Sinclair Williams Sr., son Marlo, daughters, Carla Anne, Myra, and several nieces and nephews. <br> <br>Arrangements were entrusted to the Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, where a public visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, September 19th at New Beginnings Ministries Church, 26 Cherrybrook Road, Dartmouth, NS. Rev. Ogueri Ohanaka officiating assisted by Pastor LeQuita Porter. A repast will be held at the East Preston Recreation Centre, 24 Brooks Drive, East Preston, immediately following the interment. The family would like to acknowledge the entire health care team at the Renal Dialysis Unit, Dartmouth General Hospital, Dr. Penelope Poyah, Dr. Zachary Fraser and all other health care professionals who assisted in his care. Reuben’s family would like to extend an “extra special” thank you to Ross (Nicey) Simmonds, who became Daddy’s best friend and right hand man.
