<div itemprop="description">GRENTZ, Reginald John “Reg”, <br> <br>Age 88, of Dartmouth, passed away at Dartmouth General Hospital on Thursday, February 9, 2017. Born in Schumacher, Ontario. Reg grew up in Kirkland Lake, Ontario until he joined the Navy in 1946. He was a son of Michael Grentz and Katarina (Spehar) Grentz. <br> <br>Reg spent 25 years of his working life in the Royal Canadian Navy, serving on all three aircraft carriers, HMCS Warrior, HMCS Magnificent and HMCS Bonaventure, retiring in 1971 as a CPO2. He then went to work for the Federal Government Department of Manpower and Immigration for 22 years. <br>During his retirement years, he volunteered at St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church in various positions for 13 years. <br> <br>Reg is survived by his wife Rita (Melvin); daughters, Kim (Chris), Katrina (Tim Krahn) and Jennifer (Marshall) Grover; grandsons Jason, Michael and Gregory and twins Jerramy and Marcus Grover, and many nieces and nephews. <br> <br>Besides his parents, Reg was predeceased by his sisters, Kay (Buster) Smith, Mamie (Bill) Burdeney, Tillie (Stan) Zavisha, Agnes (John) Benish, Jean (Rollie) Lavallee; brothers Ed (Marg) and Mike (Joyce). <br> <br>No visitation by request. The funeral Mass will take place at St Clement’s Church, 16 Gaston Road, Dartmouth on Wednesday February 15th at 10:30am, with a reception to follow in the church hall.
