<div itemprop="description">Downey, Perry Sr., age 75 of North Preston passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 29 2014. Born in North Preston on March 10, 1939, he was the son of the late Ida and Frances Downey Sr. Perry was a member of the Saint Thomas Baptist Church where he was a member of the BYPU. Perry worked for Dartmouth Reddy Mix for 14 years, Form Construction, many Government sites, and Atlantic Construction for 4 years. He was a caretaker for the Downey Road Cemetery. Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away, however Perry lived life to the fullest. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret of 49 years. Sons, Davis, Toronto, Lindsay (Missy), Philbert, Walter (Gladys), all of North Preston, Perry Jr. Toronto, Bobby, Dartmouth, Leroy , Sackville, Wade (Cathy), Daniel (Queenie) North Preston; Daughters, Linda (Winston) Toronto, Adele (Cameron), Dartmouth, Rose (Murray) North Preston, Roxanne Dartmouth, Deanna, Toronto, Marika (Ardel) Dartmouth, Laylynn, Toronto; Brothers, Flemming (Violet), Albert (Patricia), Conrad (Carolanne); Sisters, Stella, Onita, Burley, Myrtle, Lavon, Mildred all of North Preston, Margaret (Lester) Ontario; He was predeceased by brothers, Francis Jr, Angus, Alfie, Clyde; sisters, Adeline, Clara, Jane, Rose, Kitty and Daisy; 44 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; Godchildren; Darlene Downey, Violet Johnson, Matthew Downey, Nell Downey, Bonnie Downey and Cleveland Downey; Friends, Wiley Cain, Ivan Willis, Chester Downey, Charlie Grosse and special nephew Archie Downey. Predeceased by 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Special thanks to Devan and his team from the Palliative Care Unit. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 3 from 2pm-4pm in Atlantic Funeral Home 771 Main Street, Dartmouth and 7pm-8pm at Saint Thomas Baptist Church were a funeral service will also be held 1pm on Tuesday November 4. Burial in &ldquo;The Downey Road&rdquo; Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
