<div itemprop="description">Barkhouse, Paul James &ndash; age 82 of Dartmouth. Passed away Sunday August 16, 2015 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born February 18, 1933 in Martins Point, he was the son of the late William and Emily (Miller) Barkhouse. Paul was a carpenter by trade and contracted for Sears for 38 years retiring in 1993 because of ill health. Paul loved to play his mandolin with his friends. He enjoyed many years at his cottage in Martins Point with his family and friends. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joy. Paul is survived by his wife of 62 years, Norma (Marsh); sons, Michael, Douglas (Peggy), Paul Jr. (Roger), David; daughter, Catherine Singh (Anish); grandchildren, Joshua (Tun), Mark (Sonji), Matthew (Katherine) and Danielle; great grandsons, Cassius, Abe and awaiting 2 great granddaughters; sisters, Dora MacAlpine (John), Betty Fleet; brothers, Eric (Bea) and Andrew. He was predeceased by brothers, Ronald, Walter, David, Charles, Irwin, Lindsay and sisters, Nellie, Velma, Grace, Rose and Joyce. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 1pm, Saturday, August 22 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
