Cormier, Patricia Marie
It is with profound sadness I announce the passing of my beloved wife Patsy, age 58, of Dartmouth (and formerly Montreal) after a brief but intense illness. Pat was predeceased by her parents Victor Cormier, her mother Josephine (Doucet) Cormier, and her second mother, Theresa (Doucet) Cormier. Pat is survived by her wife Shelagh Skerry (Dartmouth), her brothers Richard (Vancouver) and Paul (Montreal), and her sisters-in law Colleen Umlah, Sharon Skerry, Kerry Turner, and Cathy Elderkin (David) as well as nieces (Simone, Jennifer, Sarah, Laura) and nephews (Marc, Andrew). Pat was proud of and loved her 37-year career as an OR nurse at several Montreal hospitals including the Queen E and Montreal General. She also thoroughly enjoyed retiring to condo life in Dartmouth on Lake Banook, playing hilariously competitive cards Thursday afternoons with Frank and Chris, spending time with family and friends, both those visiting from Montreal, and new found friends, including the Pizza Girls. She adapted her OR organizational skills to lead our Condo Social Committee (she loved you ladies) to many successful events in the mere year and a half she got to enjoy her new home. I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude for the excellent care Patsy received during her last two months, most especially from Dr. Kremed, Dr. Dupere, Marlese Reid, the wonderful VON nurses, and the amazing and caring staff in the Palliative Care Unit at the VG. At Patsy's request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Pat's life will take place at Atlantic Funeral Homes, Dartmouth Chapel (771 Main St.) on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 6pm, followed by a reception. To honour Patsy in a way she would truly appreciate, feel free to wear plaid! In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, or any charity of your choice. And, as Patsy would say, "All that to say: Goodbye." Online condolences may be made by visiting www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com
