
DUGAL, Norman Ernest Joseph "Norm" - 83
Our family is deeply saddened by the passing of Norm, a dear husband, father, Poppy, and Great Poppy, on February 4, 2012, at the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Beloved husband of Shirley (Ernst), together for 60 years. Loving dad to Charlene (Wayne) King, Christine (Paul Longobardi), Norma, Patty (Stephen) Albert, Sherry (Brent) Chaulk, Tom (Mary), Angela and Greg (Annie Fontaine). Grandfather of 12: Amy, Christopher, Jennifer, Krista, Carla, Marissa, Nicole, Taylor, Alexandria, Michael, Kyla, Ethan and Mathias. Great Grandfather of 4: Mikayla, Madilyn, Riley, and Sophie Marie. Predeceased by his parents Earl, Eva, Alice (Stepmother), brother Larry and sister Theresa (Hastings). Survived by siblings Earl, Raymond, Garry, Patrick, Cecilia, Gloria-Jean (Drouin), Mary-Helen (Pollard), Lu (McIntosh) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dad spent 42 years in the public service, the first 25 years with the Royal Canadian Navy, retiring as Chief Petty Officer 2nd class. His remaining years of work were spent at the Halifax Airport with Transport Canada where he worked on radar and electronic equipment and was well known for preparing turkey dinners at the office on special occasions. Dad was known for his sense of humor and his love of golf. He also loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Our family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Dartmouth General Hospital for their kindness and for always taking the time to update the family and share a laugh with dad.
A celebration of dad's life will take place at the DARTMOUTH MEMORIAL GARDENS and ATLANTIC FUNERAL HOME, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth on Thursday, on February 9th, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service to be held on Saturday, February 11th, at St. Thomas More Parish, 1 Kuhn Drive, 434-4190, at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow immediately after at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. For those not attending the interment, a reception will follow the service in the church hall.
As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made in Norm's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Canadian Cancer Society.
