Michelle Theresa Thompson (Dinsdale) age 53 of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, passed away Thursday, August 4th, 2016 at the Victoria General Hospital. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Theresa Sutherland and the late Gerald Dinsdale.

Michelle graduated Prince Andrew High School in 1981. She then started her career at Sun Life Financial, which is where she met her husband. After leaving Sun Life to raise her daughters, Michelle decided to pursue her true passion, which was caring for dogs.

Michelle and her family were devoted members of the Port Wallis United Church. Michelle was an avid runner who was passionate about running for charities with her daughter. Michelle also adored gardening and the solitude of early morning coffee outdoors, while listening to country music. Michelle could be seen daily with her faithful companion Zoey at Shubie Dog Park. Often times Michelle could even be seen with multiple dogs, wearing that incredibly infectious smile, greeting all of the other dogs by name. Michelle’s favorite destination was a warm, sunny beach – anywhere she could feel the sun on her face and the sand between her toes. One of Michelle’s favorite summer pastimes was watching her daughters paddle on Lake Banook. Above all else, Michelle’s most cherished moments were time spent with her family. She truly had a way of making everyone feel special. With her warm nature and cheerful personality, Michelle left an impression on absolutely everyone she met.

Survived by her husband Peter Thompson, daughters Nina Mombourquette (Toronto) and Natalie Thompson (at home), and faithful lab Zoey Coco Thompson. Siblings Debbie Cooke (Gerard), Kathy Viau (Dan), Stephen and Ron (Debbie), grand-puppy Duke, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father Gerald.

A very special thank you to the doctors and nurses that cared for Michelle – especially Dr. Molinari, Dr. Gallacher, Dr. Peltekian, Dr. Ho, Dr. Rogozovsky, Courtney, Caitlin and Jodi, and the staff of the 3A ICU.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Atlantic Funeral Homes, Dartmouth Chapel (771 Main Street) from 2pm – 4pm & 6pm – 8pm. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 11th, 2016 from Port Wallis United Church at 11am (263 Waverley Rd).

To reflect Michelle’s vibrant personality, please wear bright colors in her honor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia SPCA.

Arrangements entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, Dartmouth Chapel (902-462-1434).
Online condolences may be made at: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com
