<div itemprop="description">FITZGERALD, MICHAEL ROBERT "MIKE" <br>Age 85, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2016 at the Halifax Infirmary. <br>Michael was born in South Harbour, Victoria County, Cape Breton to the late Stephen and Mary Effie. <br> <br>Mike was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great- grandfather and friend to all. He began his career at National Gypsum in Dingwall, and continued working in construction until his retirement. Mike loved working with his hands, building both house and lawn furniture as well as helping his children and family members with various projects around their homes, Mike was always there to help out. In the mornings, Mike could be found at Starbucks in Mic Mac Mall, gossiping with the baristas, before heading to Kent to bring a little sunshine to the staff, all of which were considered good friends. <br> <br>Mike is survived by sisters Julia (Raymond) Daisley, Dartmouth; Margaret (Albert) Williams, Ingonish; and brother Brian (Rose Mary), Truro; as well as daughters Juanita, Iris (Vernon) MacPhee, Michelle (Michael) Davis, all of Dartmouth; Kim (Leigh) Calder, Cape Breton; sons Jerome (Vickey), Ward (Valerie), Roland (Jeannine), all of Dartmouth, and Guy (Sharon) of Milford. In addition he is survived by grandchildren Holly (Dean), Matthew, Robyn (Cory), Justin (Stephanie), Mandy (Jonathan), Kyle, Cassie (Luke), Sarah (Clay), Nicholas, Susan and Sam. Mike was also blessed with twelve great-grandchildren with lucky number thirteen expected around Christmas. He is also leaving behind his best friend Georgina, whose company he has enjoyed for many years. <br> <br> Mike was predeceased by his loving wife Susan (Dixon), who he is now reunited with; as well as infant twins Michael and Marie; sisters Josephine, Mary Julia, foster sister Priscilla; brothers John, Allister and Stanley. <br> <br>Cremation has taken place. Funeral service to be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 10a.m. at Saint Vincent de Paul Parish, 320 Flying Cloud Drive Dartmouth, with Father Dariusz Misiolek officiating. Reception to follow in the church Stewardship Center. Interment will occur after reception at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, located at 767 Main Street. <br> <br> Thank you to all of the 7.4 floor staff at the Halifax Infirmary, who cared for our Dad as if he were family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.</div>
