Maxwell "Max" Pottie
October 25, 1926 - March 17, 2016
Pottie, Maxwell “Max” passed away at the age of 89 after a brief illness at the QEII on Thursday, March 17. The son of the late James and Angeline Pottie, he was predeceased by his brother Reginald and his sister Viola. He is survived by his brother Gerald (Lorraine), and by his nephews Jim (Sylvia) and Paul and his nieces Janet (Don), Tammy, and Lorrie Anne (Brian). He leaves behind many good friends from both Dartmouth and Sheet Harbour, including Mike and C.D., Jenny, Sharon, Craig, Claude and family, the Porter family, David, Christina, Lorne and dear friend Jean.
Max left a successful career in the insurance business to become a teacher, a profession he loved. He spent his career teaching at Bicentennial School in Dartmouth, where he was much respected by students and staff. He became Vice-Principal and kept that post until he retired. He spent his retirement years between his home in Dartmouth and his cottage at Foggy Point near Sheet Harbour. He was an avid gardener and outdoorsman who enjoyed travelling around the province, lavishing attention on his dogs, and spending time with friends and family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Atlantic Funeral Homes 771 Main Street Dartmouth on Sunday, April 10 from 2-4 PM. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.atalnticfuneralhomes.com (Dartmouth Chapel)
