<div itemprop="description">Dad passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the age of 89 at the Dartmouth General Hospital, with his family by his side. Born on May 1, 1927 in North Woodside, he was one of six children born to the late Richard and Muriel (Boutilier) Gulliver. <br>Dad was predeceased by his wife, Caroline (Mitchell) on December 1, 2002. Together, Dad and Mom were blessed with 5 children, Carolyn (Daniel Tobin), Max (Lynn Smart), Judy (late Bobby Rabideau), Jo-Anne (Jim Cox) and Terry Gulliver. He will be sadly missed by his 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, sisters, Shirley Sampson, Gwen Whynot, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. <br>Predeceased by sisters, Beatrice Hines, Frances King, and brother, Murray. <br>His early beginnings were spent growing up in North Woodside, and he began working at the young age of 14 at W.J. Dowell & Son. He also spent years working at Willet Fruit Company. Dad joined the Reserve Army at A23 Eastern Passage and served as Sargent Major. He retired from Windsor Park Halifax at the age of 66. <br>A sport fanatic, Dad loved watching his ball games and hockey games on TV while snacking on his peppermints. He will be sadly missed and loved always. <br>The Family wishes to thank the staff of Shoreside at Ocean View Continuing Care Center for their support, love and compassion. A very special thank you to Dr. Claire Nowlan. Thank you to the Staff of 4East of the Dartmouth General for their professionalism and support to our family. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9pm Monday, October 17 with a memorial service 1pm Tuesday, October 18 followed by a reception all in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St. Dartmouth. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Donations can be made in Dad’s Memory to St. Alban’s Church Fund, Canadian Cancer Society or Oceanview Continuing Care Centre.
