Mark David Joseph
Of Rines Creek, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family who were with him during his last moments on Sunday, July 7th 2013.
Mark was the President and founder of Northeastern Protection Services Inc, Select Food and Vending Ltd, and Joseph Properties. As well, he was a member and past Vice Commodore of the Dartmouth Yacht Club and past President of the Halifax Executive Association.
Mark was a self-made man arising from humble beginnings to become a prominent businessman in the Halifax area. He always said that without the help and support of his loving and patient wife Rebecca, he would not have had the successes that he achieved. Mark was named one of past top 50 CEO’s in Atlantic Canada and his company Northeastern was awarded a BBB Ethics award.
Mark was very energetic and loved his life that included yachting, flying, and being at his homes both here in Nova Scotia as well as Palm Harbor, Florida with his family. He also enjoyed going to movies with the boys and listening to oldies music. Mark was an inspiration to many people he met, showing them some of the finer things available in life that can be attained through hard work and dedication.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca who was there constantly through his illness and who together with him shared a life of love and happiness, his children Christopher (Wanda Anderson), Matthew (Andrea Smith) and Scottie. Mark was an extremely proud Papa to grandchildren Hailie, Bianca, Ethan, Braedon and Payton. He will be missed by his father, Frederick “Giddo” and by his little sister and brother, Pam (Mike Hatter) and Fred (Heather), mother-in-law, Judy, many sister and brother-in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Mark was also an honored Godfather of Brittany Hatter, Christie Vautour and Dean Joseph. He was pre-deceased by his mother Anne “Sitto” and father-in-law Scott Kane. To his family, Mark was truly the King and the world’s most interesting man.
Friends may call at the Atlantic Funeral Home, Dartmouth, on Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9pm. A celebration of Mark’s life will be held in the Chapel Thursday at 2pm.
The family would like to thank the staff of 5.2 MSNICU at the QE II hospital and his nurse Lana, for their outstanding care and compassion during our difficult time. You were amazing. If desired, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be left at www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com
