Marie Eileen MacFarlane
May 5, 1940 - July 5, 2015
MacFarlane, (Casavechia), Marie Eileen – 75, of Dartmouth, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie on Sunday July 5th, 2015 at Northwood Centre, with son Larry holding her hand. Born May 5, 1940, in her grandparent’s house on Waverley Road, Port Wallace, she was the second of five daughters born to Walter and Margaret (Boutilier) Casavechia. Family was everything to Marie. She enjoyed spending time at her summer home at Gulf Shore Road, Pugwash, playing cards and enjoying the company of family and friends. She is survived by the love of her life, best friend and husband of 57 years and 28 days, Tom MacFarlane; daughters, Susan MacKenzie (Wesley), Karen Conrad (Stephen); sons, Mike (Cindy), Larry (Brenda Mosher); 6 grandchildren, Sarah O’Handley (Adam), Amy MacKenzie (Charlie Whebby), Jeffrey Conrad (Terri Bottomley), Jessica Conrad (Brian Laidlaw), Nicole and Stephanie MacFarlane and their mother Michelle; 4 great grandchildren, Peyton and Jaxson O’Handley, Matthew and Ava MacKenzie. Marie is also survived by her 4 sisters, Joan Connors (Audley Lowe), Dianne Shrum (Wayne), Beverley Casavechia (Raymond LaPierre), and Mary Lou Carmichael (Joey); and her uncles, Leo Casavechia (Donus) and Johnny Casavechia (Margaret); special cousin, Jeannie Reid and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Marie was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Margaret Casavechia and daughter, Brenda in infancy. Special thanks to One Centre Northwood nurses, LPN’s and CCA’s who took great care of Marie and treated her as if she were their own mother. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday, July 10th at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11th followed by interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reverend Ivan Gregan officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Atlantic Canada Division, as Marie had MS for over 40 years.
