<div itemprop="description">BEALS, Louis (Banoon) 77, was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour on July 8th, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving wife. Born in North Preston, he was the son of the late Alexander Smith and the late Elise Sparks. He was raised by his grandparents the late William and Irene Beals. Louis was a member of St. Thomas United Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Laura Grant Beals, eight sons; Howard (Debra), William (Donna), Wade, Spencer (Victoria), Nelson (Patricia), Archy (Caroletta), Donald (Grant) and Dwayne (Tina); three daughters, Elizabeth (Murphy), Juanita (Paul) and Patricia (Daniel). Daughter in law Fay Downey-Grant. Brothers, Bernard (Madeline) Smith, Ross (Myrna) Downey, Emmanuel Sparks, David (Lisa) Sparks and Michael (Kelley) Steele, sisters, Marian Bundy, Irene St. Jean, Josephine (Raymond) Smith, Joyce (Nick) Philitpou, Joyce Ann Downey, Barbara (Stewart) Beals and Madeline Kane. Last surviving Uncle, Foster Smith. 47 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren. Godchildren Marcella Williams and Josh Johnson. Predeceased by brothers: Louis, Roland, Percy, Allen, Clifford, Edmond, Lloyd and Archie; sisters, Ellen, Diane, Doreen and Alice; Stepmother, Louella Smith, daughter in law Geraldine Grant. He was one of the original organizers of the District 8 Volunteer Fire Department and served for over 30 years. He was employed as a bricklayer with Roman Masonry and other construction companies throughout HRM, he was also an entrepreneur. Visitation & Laymen Service will be held on Wednesday July 13th, 2016, 7-8:30 pm; Funeral service to be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday July 14th, 2016 both at St. Thomas Baptist Church, North Preston, Rev. Wallace Smith officiating. Burial in St. Thomas Baptist Church Cemetery, North Preston. Burial in St. Thomas Baptist Church Cemetery.
