CROSBY, Linda Faye-68, of Dartmouth.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Linda Faye Crosby on Saturday April 13, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She slipped away peacefully at home surrounded by her children Stephen (Sue), Rhonda (Mohammed) and Troy (Trina). Linda was born on October 15, 1944 to the late Sidney and Nancy Ball. She lived her entire life in Dartmouth, mainly in the Woodlawn area. While her children were still young she worked at the IWK and Hermes Electronics. For many years she provided foster care for children. Later in life she enjoyed working at the cafeteria at Eaton's department store. Linda raised her three children alone and she was very proud of the adults they became. Her five grandchildren Sidney, Taylor, Adam, Hannah and Sarah were, without question, her pride and joy. They say in order to have a friend you must be a friend which explains why Linda had so many...she could work magic with a pot of tea. Over the last few years she enjoyed the company of neighbours for "hockey nights" with the gang gathering at her place for treats and the Penguins games. Linda has touched many lives with her indomitable spirit. She was kind, caring and very easy to love. She will be dearly missed every day and will remain forever in our hearts. Besides her children and grandchildren, Linda is survived by her brothers Ralph(Gerine) Ball and Gerry (Theresa) Ball. She was predeceased by her common law husband Kenny Shrum and her younger sister Peggy (Kenny) Marshall who succumbed to cancer this past February. Linda first became ill in June of 2004 and remained in hospital for nine months. We would like to thank the nurses of 9B at the VG for all their kindness and compassion at that very difficult time. We would also like to thank doctors Carman Giacamantionio and Aj Kumar for their years of care; the VON who provided home care for Linda since she returned home from the hospital in 2005. Special thanks to palliative care, especially Lynn Gillis, whose guidance enabled Linda to remain where she most wanted to be, at home. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Thursday April 18th at Woodlawn United Church, 54 Woodlawn Road, Rev. Valerie Kennedy officiating, with a private graveside burial for immediate family only, in Woodlawn United Cemetery. Reception to follow in the church hall. Donations may be made in Linda's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made by visiting: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com, Dartmouth Chapel.
