<div itemprop="description">Leroy “Bill” Britten Nov 7, 1936-Feb 10, 2017 <br> Bill passed peacefully from this life with Anita, his best friend and wife of 31 years, at his side on February 10, 2017. Born in Poirierville, he moved to Halifax at a young age and began work as an automotive mechanic. Bill operated his own business for many years on the Herring Cove Road and then worked as foreman at the CN garage. In 1986 he and Anita returned to his beloved Poirierville and he continued to “mend” people’s cars in the Port Hawkesbury area, retiring in 2006. Bill is remembered for his skill, work ethic and honesty.<br>Left to share memories of a caring Dad and Pappa are his children, Billy Cullen and his daughters Victoria and Rebecca; Carol Ann (Jason Bateman) and their son Jonathan; Dana Thomas (Jimmy Clark) and daughters Emily and Anna; and James Cullen (Dianne) and daughters Samantha and Santana. Celebrating a brother’s life are Dennis (Denise) and Earleen of Montreal, Raymond (Kay) Port Hawkesbury, Ina (Rheal Saulnier), Benny (Doreen), Harold (Jayne), Paul, Brian (Cathy), all of HRM, and Marie (Gerard MacNeil) of Port Hastings. Bill is also survived by many nieces and nephews from coast to coast, his sister in law Barbara (Robert Murphy) of Dartmouth and Carol Ann’s mother Matilda Britten of Halifax as well as an aunt, Murriel Nichol, St Anne Centre Arichat.<br>Bill was the son of the late Harold and Agnes (Poirier) Britten. He was predeceased by his brothers Joseph and Henry and several infant siblings as well as a niece Jennifer Britten, nephew François Marley, brothers-in- law Allsion Marley, Ken Troke and sister in law Linda.<br>A time of Remembrance will be held at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St. Dartmouth, on February 24 at 11 am. Please honour him by doing an act of kindness in his memory.<br>A special thank you to his extraordinary neighbours, who went above and beyond to help so that Bill could stay at home during his illness. <br><br></div>
