<div itemprop="description">Goodwin, Joy Allyn, of Cole Harbour, passed away on March 9, 2015 at the Q.E.II (V.G. site), surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 19, 1942, in Springhill, Nova Scotia. She was the daughter of the late Raymond Burton and Lila Grace (Spence) Harrison. Joy worked for many years as an LPN at various health care facilities. She was known for her caring and compassionate ways, always putting the needs of others before her own. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and greatly enjoyed attending their activities and sporting events. Joy highly valued her friends and cherished all the times they spent together. Her life as a military wife enabled her to make friends across Canada, and she always kept those connections close to her heart. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Goodwin; daughters, Cathy (Steven) Sacre, Sandra Goodwin; grandchildren, Bobby and Nick Sacre, and Vittoria and Joseph Avolese; three nieces and a nephew. She was predeceased by her brother, John Raymond Harrison. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at Atlantic Funeral Homes, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, on Saturday, March 14 at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Padre Carol Young. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada or to the Epilepsy Association of Nova Scotia.
