<div itemprop="description">Thomas, Janet Harriet (nee) Slawter, 53 of East Preston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 9, 2014 at 8:20 pm at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Halifax she was the youngest daughter of the late Ernest and Louise (Williams) Slawter. Janet was also a member of the East Preston United Baptist Church. Janet was a former employee of the East Preston Daycare, Graham Creighton Jr. High School Cafeteria Attendant, as well as Department of Transportation &amp; Ocean Construction LTD. Janet was a great hostess, you always left her home feeling loved, filled with food and full of laughter. Janet was very passionate about the welfare of her family. A few things Janet loved to do was collecting angels, feeding and watching the birds, also appreciating nature at its best, and the greatest thing Janet loved to do was rejoicing in the Lord. Janet is survived by her husband, Brian; sons, Alexander, Andre and daughter Andrea, all from East Preston; grandchildren, Asha and Demitrius and Godchild Carly-Lynn; sisters, Rose (Cecil), Laura, Evelyn (Earl), Eleanor (Phillip), Marcy all of East Preston, Thelma (Brian) of North Preston, Lavice and Charlene of Dartmouth; brothers Edward, Stanley, Toronto, Dennis, Dartmouth, Edgar (Susan) and Winston, East Preston; many nieces and nephews; last surviving Aunt Elder Edith Colley and Uncle Wilfred (Genevieve) Williams of East Preston. Janet is pre-deceased by her sister Beatrice; brother, Vencil; Florence Simmonds (Godmother) Special thanks to Staff at the Victoria General Hospital Unit 5A and CTRF Radiology Unit, to the homecare support workers, and to the staff at Dartmouth General Hospital 4 West. A visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Monday April 14th, 2014 at the E.P.U.B.C. Funeral service on Tuesday April 15th, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the East Preston United Baptist Church with Pastor LeQuita Porter officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the E.P.U.B.C.
