James Willard II MacArthur
October 23, 1945 - December 31, 2014
MacArthur, James Willard II, of Lower Sackville, NS and Moncton, NB, 69 years old, passed away suddenly at his home in the early morning of December 31st, 2014.
Born in Moncton, NB. He was the son of the late George Betram MacArthur and the late Jean Olive (Thompson) MacArthur.
Willard was an active and devoted member of the Dartmouth Sportsplex. He spent countless hours there forming lasting friendships with the staff and many fellow members. It was his home away from home. Willard was a member of the Halifax Baha'i Community. Willard loved flowers, especially roses. Roses of any colour sent in his honour would be greatly welcomed.
Willard is survived by his sons, James Willard III MacArthur, Moncton, NB and Dr. Rod MacArthur (Rebecka Redding); and grandchildren Emma & Jack MacArthur, Edmonton, AB; sister, Barbara Jean Smith (Dexter), Riverview, NB; Brothers: Forrest MacArthur (Jean), Alma NB and Gordon MacArthur, Lower Sackville, NS.
He is survived by a caring and extended McPhail family and many nieces and nephews and several cousins, including his nephew George Peter MacArthur, his niece Sarah MacArthur and her daughter Emma Duffy, who shared a home with Willard in Lower Sackville for the last six years.
He was predeceased by his wife Laurie McPhail and his mother and father, as well as his Aunt Beatrice Thompson and his loving friend and sister in law Pam (Rafuse) MacArthur (Gordon).
No visitation by request. The funeral Service: will be on Sunday, January 4th, 2015 at 2 pm in the Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street in Dartmouth, NS. The service will be officiated by the Halifax Baha'i community. The burial will take place on Monday January 5th at 10 am in Dartmouth, Memorial Gardens.
Donations of flowers are very welcome. Also donations can be made in Willard's memory to Adsum for Women and Children, 2421 Brunswick St, Halifax, N.S., B3K 2Z4 or MOSH, 2101 Gottigen St. Halifax, N.S., B4K 2B2.
