James "Jim" George

GEORGE, James Alfred, age 69 of Dartmouth, passed away at the Dartmouth General Hospital on May 27, 2016 due to kidney cancer. He was the son of the late Alfred and Geraldine (Daley) George of Dartmouth. Following graduation from Prince Andrew High School, Jim was accepted into the Nova Scotia Institute of Chartered Accountants Apprenticeship Program and earned his designation of Chartered Accountant in 1973. Prior to his death, Jim enjoyed many of the leisure activities that retirement offered as a reward for his forty five year career in commercial land development and the hospitality industry. He also chose to remain active in the accounting profession on a part-time basis with his long time employer and friend, Jan Jachimowicz of S. Jachimowicz Ltd. Jim is survived by his wife Anne, their sons, Brent (Krista MacDonald), Dartmouth, Jay (Traci) Middle Sackville and Gregory (Renee), Fredericton, NB. Jim is also survived and will be deeply missed by his grandchildren who occupied much of his time following their many sport and academic activities, Christine and Ryan, William and Thomas, and Quinten, Peyton and Natalie. Jim is also survived by his sister, Judy Connors (Robert) of East Dover. Besides his parents he was also predeceased by an older brother, Alfred (in infancy). The family would like to thank the staff of 4West of Dartmouth General Hospital as well as the nursing staff of the Dickson Centre VG site, QE II. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Thomas More Church, 15 Caledonia Road, Dartmouth on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 11:00am, Father John Williams officiating.
