Ian Robert Green
December 16, 1994 - May 19, 2014
GREEN, Ian Robert, age 19, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 19, 2014. Born in Halifax, he was the youngest child of Karen (Roseveare) and Robert Green, Dartmouth. Ian graduated from Prince Andrew High School, attended Memorial University in St. John's, NF, and was very excited to be starting engineering at St. Francis Xavier University in September. Ian had what he said was the best job and co-workers while working at RAD Distribution Inc., Dartmouth. As a tenor drummer with the Dartmouth & District Pipe Band, they have had many notable achievements: 2013 Nova Scotia Pipe Band Champions, with a 1st place Drum Corps, 2012 Atlantic Canadian Pipe Band Champions Grade 3 & Grade 2, placed 8th at their appearance in the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow Scotland in 2012 and played a solo concert during Piping Live! in Glasgow Square. He and his band members were invited to perform at the TradFest Temple Bar Irish Music Festival in Dublin, Ireland in January 2011. Ian fell in love with Ireland while he was there. His band members were his second family. Ian was a special young man, his presence alone could fill a room with positive energy through his smile, goofiness and his genuine personality. He always had a plan and loved to include others in his plans. In addition to his parents, Ian is survived by sister Danielle (Bryan Ellis), brother Eric, two dogs Chimay and Stella, paternal grandmother Jane Green, all of Dartmouth; maternal grandparents Lillian and Wallace Roseveare, Halifax; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, great friends, colleagues and neighbours. Ian was predeceased by paternal grandfather Claude Green. We take great comfort in knowing that they are together. A visitation with viewing will be held on Thursday, May 22 from 7-9 pm, and Friday, May 23, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. A memorial service followed by a reception will be held on Saturday May 24 at 11 am, at Saint James Anglican Church, 2668 Joseph Howe Drive, Halifax, Rev. Rachael Parker officiating and Rev. Ronald Harris assisting. Cremation will follow. Donations in memory of our beautiful Ian may be made to the Dartmouth & District Pipe Band Association (PO Box 2132, Dartmouth, NS, B2W 3Y2). Online condolences may be provided at atlanticfuneralhomes.com/Dartmouth.
