<div itemprop="description">OICKLE, Hector Douglas &ndash; 88, of Dartmouth passed away peacefully Thursday, March 10, 2016 in Dartmouth General Hospital, Dartmouth. Born in West Northfield, Lunenburg County, he was the son of the late Willis and Lorna (Arenburg) Oickle. <br />After leaving Kempt, Queens County, in 1953, Hector and his wife Jeanette moved to Dartmouth where he worked for Dominion Cement Company driving a cement truck. He then worked for the City of Dartmouth for many years and retired in 1992. After retiring, Hector enjoyed bowling, hunting, canoeing, horseshoes and spending lots of time at the cottage. The grandchildren will fondly remember their &ldquo;Grampie&rdquo; having bonfires and roasting wieners and marshmallows. His family is very thankful for all the wonderful memories that they have shared with him.<br />Hector is survived by his wife, the former Jeanette Rawding, Dartmouth, his daughters Marlene (Steven) O&rsquo;Malley, Harmony; Marilyn (Ralph) Jacobs, Mineville; Cheryl (Keith) Pretty, Greenwood; Brenda Lee (Greg) Warren, Edmonton; son Brian Oickle, New Brunswick; brothers Hubert (Phyllis) Oickle, Dartmouth; Kenneth (Judy) Oickle, Lower Sackville ; Stewart (Marie) Oickle, Parry Sound, ON; sister Marguerite (Carl) Sheffer, Dartmouth; grandchildren Gerry, Angie, Tanya, Larry, Christa, Jennifer, Jamie, Katelyn, Michael, Jeffrey, and great grandchildren, Abbey, Jonathon, Hayley, Sarah, Kayleen, Nathan, Gabriel, Brady, Riley, Madysun, Parker, Jace, Aiden and will be awaiting the arrival of baby Matthew from heaven. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son Larry.<br />In keeping with Hector&rsquo;s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will take place from 2-4pm and 7- 9pm Thursday, March 17, 2016 in Atlantic Funeral Home 771 Main St, Dartmouth. The celebration of life service will be held at 2pm Friday, March 18, 2016 in the funeral home chapel, Rev. James Haughn officiating. Reception to follow. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens to take place at a later date.<br /> A special thank you to the staff at the Dialysis Unit in Dartmouth General and all of his friends who were considered &ldquo;family&rdquo; and the staff at 4th floor of Dartmouth General Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. <br />By request, family flowers only.
