Hazel Mae Wagner
July 11, 1930 - September 26, 2016
Hazel passed peacefully to her Eternal Rest on September 26, 2016. Born July 11, 1930 in North Riverside, Guysborough County, Nova Scotia. She was the daughter of the late William MacPherson and Hilda (Atwater) MacPherson.
She was a retired teacher, having taught for thirty-five years, starting in Guysborough County at the tender age of sixteen. She worked in the Dartmouth School system twenty-three of those years.
Hazel was an active member of the St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Dartmouth. She taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the Altar Guild for more than fifty years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a Past Matron, and a Grand Representative of Wisconsin in 2002 & 2003.
After retirement she was a volunteer teacher at the Nova Scotia Museum for many years. Hazel attended St. Luke’s, Time Out for Women craft group, enjoying the fellowship. Her passionate hobby was sewing, using her many machines, trying creative ideas. She had a great love for cooking and baking and was always testing new recipes. Hazel was a life-long learner, keeping in touch with technology and the latest gadgets. She celebrated special occasions and was always ready with a meaningful card or gift.
Hazel is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Leo Wagner, her daughter Julie (John) Wynn, Dartmouth and son Kevin (Christina) Wagner, Dartmouth, grandchildren, Reagan Wynn, Dartmouth and Caitlyn Wagner, Dartmouth, her sister Francine (Gary) Goodfellow and brother Charles (Jennie) MacPherson and many very special nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Hazel was predeceased by her sisters Velma Mason and Marion Cleary. A daughter, sister, wife, mother, nana and friend, Hazel will be missed deeply and remembered fondly by all she quietly touched.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29th, 2016 from 7-9pm at the Atlantic Funeral Homes, Dartmouth Chapel. The funeral service will take place on Friday, September 30th, 2016 at 10am from the Atlantic Funeral Homes, Dartmouth Chapel with Rev. Matthew Sponagle officiating.
