<div itemprop="description">97 of North Preston passed away peacefully on March 13th at home with her loving family surrounded by her side. Gracie, last of her generation, was the daughter of the late (Deacon) Peter and Hattie Beals (Downey). She was loved by all in the community and a long time faithful member of the Saint Thomas United Baptist Church. She was in the Ladies Auxillary, Senior Choir and the WMS. Gracie was baptized at the age of 14 by Rev. Wyse who was assisted by her uncle Anthony Beals. Her hobbies were picking blueberries, mayflowers, making Christmas wreaths and most of all, playing dominoes. Gracie also loved cooking and was famous for her apple pies. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten by her children, sons, George Jr. (Violet), Elliston (Yvonne), Norman, Vincent, Kelvin, Conrad Sr., Terry, Carl, Conrad Jr., Lamar and Kyle; daughters, Julie (Toddy), Lorraine (Lee), Grace, Roletta (Gary), Trina, Heather (Rick), Fendi, Barbara, Kerrielynn (Glen), Misty (Kenyatta); special grandchildren, Darlene and Duwan; special daughter in law, Violet Glasgow and sister in law, Rosie Johnson; children that she raised as her own, Arnold Barry, Marjorie Simmonds, Evelyn Sparks, Dolly Simmonds, Victoria Downey and Clarence Barry, 78 grandchildren, 170 great grandchildren and 59 great great grandchildren; God Children, Diane Downey, Westley Downey, Roger Beals, Linda Smith and Val Cain. She was predeceased by her husband, George Arthur Glasgow Sr.; sons, Wesley, Lester and one in infancy; brother, Herman; sisters, Lena, Nancy, Fanny, Hester and Hanna; grandchildren, Travis and Marvin. Visitation will be held Friday from 7 – 9 p. m. in Atlantic Funeral Home 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. Funeral service will be held 1pm Saturday March 18, 2017 in Saint Thomas Baptist Church, Rev. Wallace Smith officiating. Interment to follow at Saint Thomas Church Cemetery. Special Thanks to Northwood Staff and VON nurses.
