<div itemprop="description">The COLLEY PATRIARCH <br /> <br />It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of George Edward Colley 96, born January 10, 1919 in East Preston he is the last surviving son of the late James and Harriet (Diggs) Colley. He was married to his wife of 55 years, the Late Lillian V. Colley who passed away April 11, 1997. He lived a musical life dedicating his musical talent to service the Lord as a guitarist in the Mass Choir for East Preston United Baptist Church for over 40 years where he received the Lord as his personal saviour at the age of 13. <br /> <br />He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, great great- grandfather and a friend to many. <br />His occupation was a stone mason and carpenter for many years. He held that job with dignity and took great pride in his work. He was a veteran. The Leighton Dillman Park in Dartmouth was one of his most treasured works. He made so many good friends; loved everyone he came in contact with, had a good natured soul and of course loved God! <br /> <br />In later years he became a dedicated and devoted member of Shiloh Community Church. He became an Honorary Deacon of Shiloh in June 2012. He is survived by sons: Allan (Madeline), John (Rose) East Preston, Stephen, Ontario; daughters: Doressa (Stephen Norton), Cole Harbour, Juanita (Billy Norton), Dartmouth, Dana (Bernard Provo Jr.), East Preston and special great grandson Tyrell, Toronto, Ontario; 28 grandchildren;61 great-grandchildren; 15 great great-grandchildren, sister Janette Brooks, sisters-in-law Phyllis Colley and Mary Glasgow both of East Preston, godsons Terrance Brooks, Dartmouth, Darryl Diggs, Ontario, goddaughters Sharon Thomas, Ontario and Diane Colley, Montreal and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. <br /> <br />He was a surrogate father to Margaret Butt, Carol Martell and Bruce Williams. <br /> <br />He was predeceased by brothers, Freeman, David, Samuel, James, Albert, Thomas and one at birth; sisters, Susan, Elsie, Elizabeth, Harriet Jr., Charlotte and Mary, two sons Arnold (Yvonne), George and daughter in law Elsie, son and daughter in infancy, a grandson and two great grandsons. <br /> <br />Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, Dartmouth Chapel. Visitation will be held at the United Pentecostal Church of Dartmouth, 293 Main Street on March 19th from 12-1pm; from where the funeral service will commence at 1pm, with Rev. Ogueri Ohanaka officiating. Interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be mailed to Shiloh Community Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 21001, 4 Forest Hills Parkway, Dartmouth NS B2W 6B2. Special thanks are extended to the homecare workers from Northwood who prepared meals and assisted with caring for dad over the years. The family would also like to thank Bruce Williams for all the times he would go and check on dad no matter what time it was he was more than willing to oblige.
