George Batherson

Batherson, George Francis
Age 64, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on December 16th at the Dartmouth General Hospital after a short battle with ALS.
Formerly of Port Hood, he was the son of the late John and Margaret Batherson.
George worked in the construction industry for the past 45 years with various companies – most recently with PCL Constructors. He enjoyed 4-wheeling on the trails in Cape Breton and spending time with his family. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. George was a kind and caring friend to all who knew him. He battled his illness bravely to the end.
George is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Marguerite, who he referred to as the love of his life; his daughter, Kim (Anthony) of Dartmouth; son, Scott (Jennilee) of Lakeside; son, Eric (Marcy) of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Kyler, Owen, and Gennelle; brothers, Ian (Helen), Tommy (Jenny), Pat (Margo) all of Port Hood; brothers, Gerry (Marion) and Martin (Dougalda) of Halifax; sisters Rita (Robert), Pauline (Ernest), and Anne all of Boston. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Florence MacMillan of Port Hood; brothers-in-law, Donald MacMillan (Gayle) of Boston, William MacMillan (Marlene) of Port Hood, Glenn MacMillan (Shelley) of Porter’s Lake; sister-in-law, Anne Batherson (Bernie) of Boston; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by brothers Donald A and Archie.
Visitation will be held Saturday Dec 19th, 2-4 & 7-9 at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. Memorial service to be held on Sunday Dec 20th at 2:30pm, Atlantic Funeral Home. Rev. James Haughn officiating. Private internment to take place at a later date in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.
Donations may be made to the ALS Society of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
The family would like to thank the ICU nursing staff at the Dartmouth General Hospital, Shannon Janes, OT, Maureen McVicar, PT, Teri and Cecil from the ALS Society.
