LaPierre, Gary James - 72. It is with extreme sadness and broken hearts that we announce the very sudden passing, at home, of Gary LaPierre of Dartmouth, on Friday, September 2nd. Gary was a loving husband, greatest dad, amazing granddad to Brooklynn (BJ), Chantal, and Gary, a brother, and friend to all. Gary is survived by his beautiful and devoted wife Connie of 52 years; two sons, Scott (Wendy) of Dartmouth; and Billy (Jenny) of Toronto; mother Mary of Toronto; sister Janice (Mike) of Riverview NB; and stepsister Leeanne (Brian) of Toronto. Gary will be fondly remembered in many people’s hearts, including all of his in-laws which are many, and nieces and nephews, and especially Troy (Krista), Al Fillmore, Bill MacMaster, and neighbours Randy and Fred. He was predeceased by his father Edwin of Grand Desert; special aunt, Myrtle Miles of Dartmouth; stepbrother Jamie of Toronto; and Connie’s best friend of 37 years, Eileen MacLeod. Gary started his career at the age of 19 as a barber for 8 years then he went with Metro Transit as a bus driver for 27 years. He was happily retired for 19 years at the age of 53 and enjoyed every moment of it. Gary was a car enthusiast who enjoyed socializing with people at car shows and travelling to many different ones on various weekends through the summer with Scott. Gary’s dream was to own a 57 Chevy Bel Air and 3 years ago, he and Scott were able to fulfill that lifelong wish and we would like to say a thank you to their #1 mechanic Dougie Spencer. Gary was an incredible, kind-hearted, patient man, who never had an unkind word for anyone. He was one of a kind. He will forever be missed and always in our hearts. We will be having a celebration of life for Gary on Friday, September 9th at 10 am at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. Cremation has taken place. *NO FLOWERS PLEASE*. Donations may be made to Gary’s favourite charity which was the QEll Hospital Foundation. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.atlanticfunerahomes.com (DartmouthChapel)
