
CURRIE, Floyd Cyril – Age 83, of Cole Harbour died peacefully on December 10, 2012 surrounded by his devoted wife of 57 years and loving children. The youngest of eleven children, he was born in Sheet Harbour on September 18th, 1929, to Samuel and Annie (MacDonald). Floyd was a devoted Catholic and a loving husband to his wife, Anna (Webb) and a proud and caring Dad to their ten children: Carl, Cole Harbour; Glen (Leslie), Comox, B.C.; Bonita (Billy) Vigneault, Cole Harbour; Pamela (Alan) Yarr, Halifax; Leonard, Halifax; Colin (Cheryl), Ottawa; Richard (Marion), Cole Harbour; Darren (Colleen), Cole Harbour; Angela (Bryan) Swan, Cole Harbour; and Christopher (Casandra), Dartmouth. He is also survived by his sister, Teresa (Currie) Webb, Lake Echo; and sister-in-law Hazel (Ron) Currie, North Bay, Ontario; grandchildren, Eugene (Julie); Alisia, Ashley and Katelyn; Jordan (Sara) and Deanna; Dannielle and Coady; Alex and Bailey; Mitchell, Liam, Ryan and Matthew; Jacob and Isaiah; and great-granddaughter, Amata, along with numerous loved nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by sisters, Annie (Francis) Dugie; Gertie (Bill) Coady; Patricia (Joe) MacDonald; brothers, Andrew (Ella); Jerry (Josie); Dennis (Golda); Frank (Eileen); Blair (Audrey); and Ron. Floyd enjoyed long lasting friendships with his former co-workers from Nova Scotia Power where he worked for 35 years, retiring in 1989. Floyd’s children will always remember their camping trips to Sheet Harbour and visits with Floyd’s special niece, “Aunt” Patsy and his friend, “Uncle” Raymond Chittick, and their children. He was also an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends and family. Floyd could often be found playing cards at the kitchen table with family and enjoyed music and dancing, especially with his beloved wife, Anna. Visitation will be at Atlantic Funeral Home,771 Main Street, Dartmouth on Thursday, December 13th, from 2pm-4pm, and in the evening from 7pm to 9pm. The funeral mass is on Friday, December 14th at 11am at Blessed Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 35 Colby Drive, Dartmouth, Father Irek Bem officiating. Burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.
